Under the general supervision of the Quality Control
Supervisor, evaluates materials in all phases of the operation: raw materials,
work in process and finished goods.? The
Lab Technician-QC records and reports test results and recommends adjustments
and corrections for work in process.


  • Evaluates raw material, work in process and
    finished goods samples, records and reports test results.

  • Determines conformance and fitness for use of

  • Operates and maintains test equipment: FALEX,
    Four-Ball EP, Timken, viscosities - kinematic and Brookfield, dropping point,
    penetrometer, grease worker, etc.

  • Recommends adjustments to work in process,
    reviews batch history and applies accepted remedies when and where available.

  • Responsible for maintaining the batch tickets
    and the formula files.

    • Complies
      with the policies pertaining to the control of quality records.

    • Maintains
      retain samples.

  • Works on special projects assigned by the
    Quality Control Supervisor or Plant Management as needed.

  • Additional duties as assigned.



  • High school diploma or GED required; formal
    chemistry course work preferred.

  • Prior Laboratory work experience, industrial or
    academic required; experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.


  • Prior
    experience with SAP or other ERP highly preferred.

  • Should be familiar with general lab procedures.

  • Knowledge of general manufacturing practices in
    the blending/compounding industries.

  • Required to operate lab test equipment: FALEX
    pin and vee-block, Four-Ball EP and wear, Timken, Brookfield, Etc.

  • Good math skills.

  • Ability to write test
    results and recommendations in report form.

  • Must PC skills and able to operate and maintain
    department hardware and software.


  • Physical requirements are consistent with others
    performing laboratory type work: light lifting, data entry and typing.

  • May be required to work while standing at the
    bench for extended periods.

  • May be required to inspect and review finished
    product and raw materials which may involve lifting items as heavy as 35 pounds
    on occasion.

  • May be required to move and carry files boxes
    which may weigh up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job
    include close vision.

  • The individual is frequently required to use
    hands and fingers, to handle or feel in order to assemble test specimen

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
